On 28th April 2000, Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) was established under the Authority of Posts according to the Decision No. 372/QĐ-TCBĐ with the purposes of “strengthen the management of Internet in general, including systematic and planned modernization and specialization of the Internet resource management activity, promoting the fair use among enterprises and integration into the global and regional Internet, in accordance with international standards”.
Nhân kỷ niệm 45 năm thiết lập quan hệ ngoại giao Việt Nam - Campuchia, để tiếp tục tăng cường và thắt chặt hơn nữa mối quan hệ hữu nghị truyền thống giữa hai nước trong lĩnh vực bưu chính - viễn thông, đoàn cấp cao của Bộ Bưu chính Viễn thông Campuchia do Bộ trưởng So Khun dẫn đầu đã sang thăm và làm việc tại Hà Nội từ ngày 26 đến ngày 29/9/2012.
Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia, Mr So Khun paid a working visit to Ha Noi from 26th to 29th September 2012 at the invitation of Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son. The aims of the visit were to develop further cooperation between the ministries in the fields of information and communications as well as strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries. The visit of Mr. So Khun happened during the commemoration of Vietnam and Cambodia for the Friendship Year 2012 and the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Từ ngày 10/09/2012 đến ngày 15/09/2012, tại Hội An, Quảng Nam; Trung tâm Internet Việt Nam (VNNIC) đã tổ chức khóa đào tạo về nghiệp vụ quản lý tên miền “.vn” cho các Nhà đăng ký tên miền “.vn”. Chương trình đào tạo nhằm trao đổi, phổ biến kiến thức về tên miền “.vn” và mô hình quản lý tên miền “.vn” cũng như hướng dẫn, đào tạo Nhà đăng ký tên miền “.vn thực hiện các tác nghiệp đăng ký, quản lý tên miền “.vn” theo các văn bản quy phạm pháp luật liên quan về quản lý và sử dụng tài nguyên Internet.

Sáng ngày 14/9/2012, Trung tâm Internet Việt Nam (VNNIC) đã tổ chức Lễ khởi công nhà trạm, đặt tại tại Lô U 15 B-17 A Khu chế xuất Tân Thuận, Phường Tân Thuận Đông, Quận 7, TP.Hồ Chí Minh. Đến dự Lễ khởi công có Thứ trưởng Bộ Thông tin và Truyền thông Nguyễn Thành Hưng; Vụ trưởng - Trưởng CQĐD của Bộ tại TP.HCM - Nguyễn Đình Tạo; Giám đốc VNNIC Hoàng Minh Cường; Phó Trưởng ban quản lý các Khu chế xuất và công nghiệp TP.HCM - Lâm Văn Tiếp; Tổng Giám đốc Công ty TNHH Tân Thuận - ông Young Yun Ti và đại diện lãnh đạo các đơn vị chức năng thuộc Bộ TT&TT, đại diện lãnh đạo một số doanh nghiệp,các đồng chí đại diện cho cho cơ quan quản lý địa phương, các đơn vị tham gia triển khai dự án cùng có mặt của các cán bộ quản lý và công chức, viên chức Trung tâm Internet Việt Nam...
Chiều ngày 06/09/2012, Cục Viễn thông Campuchia do ông Chakrya Moa - Cục trưởng - dẫn đầu đã đến thăm và làm việc với Trung tâm Internet Việt Nam (VNNIC) tại trụ sở VNNIC, Yên Hòa, Cầu Giấy, Hà Nội. Trong cuộc họp hai bên đã trao đổi về kế hoạch hợp tác thúc đẩy phát triển và quản lý tài nguyên Internet trên cơ sở sự đóng góp thiết thực cho mối quan hệ hữu nghị lâu dài giữa hai đất nước, hai dân tộc.
