With the aim to accomplish Viet Nam’s IPv6 promotion plan in 2018, Viet Nam IPv6 Task Force (VNIPv6TF) held working meetings with Viettel, VNPT and Mobifone to summarize and assess IPv6 deployment result in Viet Nam this year.

Under the agreement between the Ministry of Infromation and Communications (MIC in Viet Nam) and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunicaitons (MPT in Laos), in collobration with LANIC, VNNIC conducted the IPv6 training workshop and ccTLD training one for IT staffs from LANIC, ISPs and Registrars in Laos in September and October, 2018.

Since September 12th, 2018, the online registration system for “.VN” domain name has been experimentally deployed by some Registrars which are Mat Bao and iNET. Therefore, the registration process, including payment will be carried out online. This improvement will make it as easy as possible for customers to obtain the national domain name in Viet Nam.

With the aim to create an opportunity for Viet Nam Internet community to exchange technical information, interact frequently with local and international experts in the issues of network operation and management, Internet breakdown, traffic and network connectivity, etc., VNNIC held VNIX-NOG 2018 conference on August 24th, 2018 in Danang City, Viet Nam.

On 7th August, 2018, Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) achieved ISO/IEC 27001:20013 certification within the scope of operation and management of essential network systems in Viet Nam including the national DNS .VN, the Internet eXchange system and Internet data centers (IDC) in Hanoi Capital, Danang City and Ho Chi Minh City.

On the ocassion of Viet Nam IPv6 Day 2018, VNNIC, the Standing Committee for Viet Nam IPv6 Task Force (VNIPv6TF) held a series of conferences and workshops, with the aim to promote IPv6 deployment in 4G LTE, content services and government agencies’ networks.

With the aim to continuously increase the IPv6 application development in Viet Nam, on January 16th 2018, Viet Nam IPv6 Task Force (VNIPv6TF) had hold the meeting to summarize IPv6 deployment result in 2017 and make a plan for 2018. The meeting, moderated by Mr. Pham Hong Hai, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications, was well-attended by members of the VNIPv6TF, the representatives of ICT authorities, ISPs, “.VN” Registrars and ones of press media in Ha Noi.

At the beginning of 2018, a new logo for .VN was introduced in order to promote the national domain name with such growing presence.
The new iconic ".VN" logo is designed with the symbol of a developing elliptic orbit which is derived by the "big dot"- a characteristic of domain name. The orbit is linked back to the softly tapered V-tail to make it look like a check mark.

Following from the National IPv6 Action Plan in 2017, with the aim to increase the IPv6 application development in Viet Nam and continuously encourage ISPs to provide IPv6 services to their customers, Viet Nam IPv6 Task Force (VNIPv6TF) worked with major local ISPs including Viettel, VNPT and FPT Online. on 6th December 2017, Mr. Pham Hong Hai, Minister of Information and Communications had visited and engaged with Viettel.

The team of Viet Nam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) had a bilateral meeting with the team of Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) at VNNIC’s head office in Hanoi, Viet Nam from 29th to 30th November, 2017. The representatives of Department of Central posts and Telecommunications (CPT), Authority of Information Technology Application (AITA) and 2 major local ISPs in Viet Nam (FPT and VNPT) also participated in the session of IPv6 deployment.
